Leslie "Les" Vining, 57, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 6, 2014.
He was born January 19, 1957, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Willis and Lois Murphy Vining.
He attended Topeka Public Schools and served in the U.S. Navy from 1976-1981. He was a sheet metal journeyman and later worked as a service technician.
Leslie "Les" married Teresa Lynn Stubbs. She preceded him in death in 2007. Other survivors include mother, Lois Vining; three step-daughters, Jennifer Emert, Tabitha Sanchez, and Terri (Paul) Miller; seven grandchildren; one sister; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Willis Dean Vining; one brother, and one sister.
Les was cremated. A memorial ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 13, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
