Leota G. Williams, 94, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2012.
She was born October 8, 1917 in Alta Vista, KS, the daughter of Herbert and Caroline (Bock) Keitzman.
Leota was a graduate of Alta Vista High School and Strickler's Business College.
She was retired from the state of Kansas after 15 years of service. In 1954, she and her husband began Signal Radio Supply, operating it until 1981.
Mrs.Williams was a faithful long time member of Faith Lutheran Church. She and her husband were members of the Shooting Stars Square Dancers in the 1980's. She was a former member of the Women of the Moose, and the Walther League as a young adult.
Leota married Harold L. Williams on November 15, 1942 in Alta Vista, KS. He preceded her in death on April 14, 2006. Survivors include two sons, Ronald Williams, Portland, ME; Randall Williams, Topeka; two daughters, Kaylene Williams, Turlock, CA; Carol Williams, Topeka; six grandchildren, Isaiah Williams, Portland, OR, Caroline Williams, Madison, WI, Abraham Williams, San Francisco, CA, Kris Williams, San Mateo, CA, Mendy (Chris) Hayes, Parsons, TN and Rowan Williams, Portland, ME and three great- grandchildren. Leota was preceded in death by a son, David A. Williams.
She wanted to be remembered for being a good mother and a hard working office professional. She enjoyed camping and traveling with her husband.
A funeral ceremony will be 11 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 at the Faith Lutheran Church, 1716 SW Gage Blvd, Topeka, KS 66604. A graveside ceremony will be at 2 p.m., Saturday at the Templin Cemetery, Alta Vista. Leota will lie in state after 3 p.m., Friday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or the Good Samaritan Fund at Brewster Place, 1205 SW 29th, Topeka, Kansas 66611.
