Leonard W. Cook, 85 of Topeka passed away Wednesday, January 07, 2004 in Midland Hospice. He was born May 22, 1918 in Topeka to Wilbur and Helen Buschacher Cook.
Leonard "Cooky" was the owner/operator of Cook's Conoco Station, along with his wife, Helen. Helen passed away in 2002. He was well known for the friendly and thorough service to his customers. After retiring Leonard worked with his son, for the Montara Housing Development He could always be seen driving his brown truck with his yellow lab, B.J. in the back.
Survivors include his daughter Judy Kistler and her husband Hal of Colby, KS, his son Jim Cook and his wife Sherry of Overland Park, KS, brother Robert Cook of Redding, CA, granddaughter Jessie Cook, grandsons Travis Oliver, Tyler Oliver and JJ Cook and great granddaughters Alyson and Kennedy Oliver.

The family of Mr. Cook will receive friends at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town today from 4-6 p.m. He will lie in state on Friday, Jan. 8, 2004 until 11:00 am, graveside services will be at 1:00 pm, in Mt. Hope Cemetery. On line condolences may be made to www.penwellgabel.com.
