Leonard E. Osborne, 70, Topeka, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2013. He was born August 5, 1943 in Amarillo, Texas, the youngest son of Elmer and Rosalia (Miller) Osborne.
Leonard graduated from Tascoso High School, Amarillo, Texas in 1961. He then attended West Texas State University. He began his career with Santa Fe Railway on January 11, 1965 in Amarillo. He transferred to Topeka March 1, 1970 to work in the Valuation Engineering office. In 1973, he became a traveling supervisor for Santa Fe to convert manually kept property records of Santa Fe to a computerized system. He took full retirement in 2008.
During the 1970s and 1980s, he was involved in many youth league programs such as Ken Berry Baseball as a coach and manager, American Legion Post No 74 and boys' basketball programs.
On April 26, 1963, he married Glenda F. Elliott in Amarillo. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She survives. Other survivors include their three children, Lenny, Lanny and Kimberley; three grandchildren, Mirida, Brittany and Damon and two great grandchildren, Gavin and Karma.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, August 21 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd, Topeka, KS 66604.
