Leonard D. Jacquot, 88, Topeka, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at a local care center.
Leonard was born May 3, 1922 in Topeka, the son of Henry and Sarah (Douglas) Jacquot.
He graduated from Washburn Rural High School.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps, 2nd Marine Division, during World War II. He participated in four major campaigns: Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian Islands, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
He owned and operated a service station in North Topeka before going to work at Goodyear. He retired from Goodyear in 1978 after 28 years of service.
Survivors include a sister, Lenarie Goodnow, Topeka; and four nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 24, 2010 at Mount Hope Cemetery. Leonard will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.
