Leonard C. Steinbock, 84, of Topeka, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at McCrites Plaza.
He was born November 23, 1929 in Chicago, IL, the son of Casper Peter and Barbara (Herr) Steinbock. He attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Topeka. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp.
Mr. Steinbock was employed by Santa Fe Railroad in Topeka retiring in 1987.
He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Leonard married Gloria J. Hurley on August 22, 1953 in Lawrence, KS. She survives. Other survivors include a daughter, Nancy (David) Clark, Topeka; three sons, Mark (Marcia) Steinbock, Tecumseh, KS, Leonard "Craig" (Debbie) Steinbock, Topeka and Gary Steinbock, Topeka; 11 grandchildren, Brian Miller, Lynda (Wade) Wasinger, Valerie (Scott) Edelman, Dustin Clark, Melissa Clark, Jessica (Bryan) Reichle, Rebecca Ferretti, Katelyn Ferretti, Christopher Rohr, Gloria L. Steinbock and Samantha Steinbock; 10 great-grandchildren, Dylan Wasinger, Riley Wasinger, Logan Wasinger, Allyson Wasinger, Madelyn Wasinger, Cayden Edelman, Carson Edelman, Tate Edelman, Sawyer Edelman, Brandon Reichle; and three siblings, Robert (Maureen) Steinbock, Joseph (Anne) Steinbock and Richard (Carolyn) Steinbock, all of Topeka.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Darla Jean Ferretti, a great-granddaughter, Amelia Wasinger four sisters and a brother.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka. Interment with military honors will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Mount Hope Chapel. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.
