Leona L. Olsen, 82, Topeka, passed away on Monday, January 16, 2006.
Leona was born March 23, 1923 in Oak Hill, the daughter of Edwin W. and Elizabeth Fisher Mall. She was the youngest sister of eight children and a twin sister of Leon. Leona was raised in Abilene.
Leona owned and operated Maternal Land in Topeka for 36 years.
She was a Charter member of the Topeka chapter of Zonta International and actively involved for over 47 years. Mayor James McClinton declared March 18, 2004 as Leona Olsen/Zonta Appreciation Day.
Leona married Donald R. Olsen on November 7, 1943 in Abilene. He died October 17, 1983. Survivors include a daughter; LaDonna Hays, Wichita and a son; Tommy Olsen, and wife, Lou Ann, Topeka; four grandchildren; Anja Hays, Tana Hays Salome, Andrea and Tyler Olsen; and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings; Leon (Bud), Kenneth, Eugene and Harlan (Herb) Mall, Maxine Dieffenbaugh, Juanita Lillich and an infant sister, Katherine
A Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2006 at Lowman United Methodist Church.
