Leona M. Purkey

Leona M. Purkey, 84, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007 at a Topeka care facility. She was born on July 28, 1923 in Moline, KS, the daughter of John and Elsie Seyphers Schul. She graduated from Moline High School. She was employed by Boeing Aircraft Company during WWII. She had resided in Topeka since 1965. She was a member of University United Methodist Church. Leona married Robert L. "Bob" Purkey on August 1, 1942 in Independence, KS. He preceded her in death on June 23, 2007. Survivors include one son, Rich of Topeka and two grandchildren, Patrick and Krysten. Cremation has taken place. Graveside inurnment services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association, 4125 S.W. Gage Center Dr., Suite LL-15, Topeka, KS 66604. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
