Leola D. Cooley, 85, Topeka, passed away May 20, 2013, at her residence. She was born October 30, 1927, in McFarland, the daughter of Raymond and Amanda Marie Senne TenEyck. On April 20, 1946, Leola married William J. Cooley. He preceded her in death on April 20, 1978. Leola was a graduate of Alma High School. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. Leola was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Topeka. She was a homemaker and enjoyed hosting family gatherings.
Survivors include daughters, Shirley (Mike) Phillips, Mary Jo Orester, Linda (Jim) Soules, and Carol (Ronald) Brownell; sons, Robert Cooley, Richard (Nancy) Cooley, and Dennis (Jacquei) Cooley; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; brothers, Dale, Don, Eldon, and LeRoy TenEyck. She was preceded in death by son, Raymond Cooley; brothers, Dewey, Edward, and Alfred; and two grandchildren.
Service will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2013, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore Street, Topeka, KS 66606, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow. Mrs. Cooley will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka.
