Lena Whittelsey

Lena A. Whittelsey, 94, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at Manor Care Nursing Center.

She was born December 5, 1908 at Silver Lake, Kansas the daughter of Jason W. and Lula (Kincaid) Dexter. Lena was a graduate of Silver Lake High School.

She began her career with the Santa Fe Railway.
She was employed as a secretary with the Turner and Associates Advertising Agency until her retirement.

Lena had been a member of the North Topeka Baptist Church and was a Hospice Volunteer.

Lena was married to Bill Whittelsey. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include:
one nephew, Jason Dexter Lecompton, KS
four nieces, Janet Lena Speirer Clancy, MT
Juliet L. Burdette Norman, OK
Joan L. Chambers Auburn, IN
Kay Paul Sunnyvale , CA

Services will be 9:00 a.m. Friday, November 7, 2003 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Graveside Services will follow at 11:00 am Friday at the Silver Lake Cemetery. Mrs. Whittelsey will lie in state after 12:00 noon Thursday at the funeral home. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be given to Heartland Hospice, 1033 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, Kansas 66604. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.penwellgabel.com.
