Lee Richard Madden
Age 92, passed away August 29, 2003 at a Topeka Care Facility. Mr. Madden was born October 28, 1910 on a farm south of Lewis, Edwards County, Kansas.
Mr. Madden was the oldest son of Oscar Thomas and Grace Shuffelfurger-Madden. He graduated from Emporia Senior High School in 1929 and that same year attended Chillicothe, MO. Business College. The depression years he spent working in a grocery store in Emporia until he was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad in the signal department on June 21, 1937 and retired on August 30, 1974.
He married Shirley Lucille Grisell May 25, 1932 at Bartly, Red Willow Co. NE. He preceded him in death September 15, 1993. Also preceded in death by his eldest Richard Madden and his daughter Sheryl Ann Marley.
He was a long time member of the Central Park Christian Church, Orient Lodge #51 AF&AM for over 50 years and the Brotherhood of Railway Signalmen of America.

One Son: Larry Ross Madden Topeka, KS
One Brother: Lloyd Madden Midland, TX
7 grandchildren, 14 great- grandchildren, 1 great great grandchildren
Mr. Madden will lie in state on Friday, September 5, 2003 beginning at Noon. Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003 at 11:00 am, in Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
