Lee Franklin Plymire, 87, of Topeka, passed away Friday, May 8, 2020.
He was born June 26, 1932, in Beloit, Kansas, the son of Duane and Louise (Sporleder) Plymire. He graduated from Beloit High School.
He grew up on the farm and would go back to help during the wheat harvest and continued until his father's passing.
Together as a family they would travel. They enjoyed traveling to Branson and going to Silver Dollar City. Shirley and he traveled internationally to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, Panama Canal, Hawaii and Alaska. They also did numerous bus trips throughout the United States.
He enjoyed watching NASCAR and sprint cars. He was hands on especially when it came to cars, model airplanes and projects around his house or kid's homes.
He was a Corporal in the Army. He was stationed in Munich, Germany during the Korean War
Lee married Shirley Huggins on January 1, 1953 in Beloit, KS, she survives. Other survivors include his children, son Steven (Kathy) Plymire; daughter Diane (Randel) Davin and daughter Brenda Krause; brother, Larry (Charlene) Plymire; grandchildren, David (Stephanie) Plymire, and Derek (Amanda) Plymire and great-grandchildren, Olivia Plymire and Zachary Plymire. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Laverne Plymire.
Lee will Lie In State from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at Penwell-Gabel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka.
A Funeral Ceremony will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2020 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, in Topeka.
