Lee A. Blanck, 86, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at a Topeka hospital.
Lee married Arlene J. Kratochvil on June 15, 1963 at the First Presbyterian Church in Topeka. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2000.
He was born March 31, 1930 on the family farm near Lamont, the son of Silas Frederick and Mabel Anna (Weaver) Blanck. He graduated from Lamont High School. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed at Elmendorf A.F.B., Alaska during the Korean War.
As tractors and trucks were of particular interest to him, he attended trade school in Kansas City for automotive and diesel mechanics. This led to 39 years of employment with Martin Tractor Company in Topeka, retiring in 1996.
He had a lifetime love of farming and gardening. In retirement, he was a member of the Shawnee County Master Gardeners and served on the Executive board for several years. He was also a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder.
Survivors include daughter, Janet S. Forge (Dale, Jr.) of St. George; sons, Gary L. Blanck of Parkville, MO; Steven C. Blanck (Heather) of Shawnee, KS; grandchildren, Emily, Lane, Rachel and Skyler Forge, Scott and Sarah Blanck; sister, Carol Gurney (Arthur), Emporia; and many nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Daniel Blanck.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 3, 2016 at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Lee will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
