LCDR Lawrence R. Gaston "Retired"


83, passed away January 15, 2004. He was born in Winters, TX on Feb. 3, 1920 the son Lonnie and Olive Gaston. He served 22 years in the US Navy and 20 years with 501 School District as a school administrator. Lawrence was a member of Countryside Methodist Church, Orient Masonic Lodge # 51, AF & AM, Scottish Rite Bodies, and Arab Shrine, Legion of Honor. Mr. Gaston was also a member of Phi Delta Kappa.


He was married for 56 years to Christine Lea on June 1, 1947 in Huston, TX. She survives, other survivors include: three daughters, Pamela Camblin, Poquoson, VA, Laura Squires, Blue Springs, MO, Olivia Petersen, Colorado Springs, CO, One son, Dr. Lawrence Gaston, Jr. Lawrence, KS. He is survived by one brother, Robert Gaston, Midland, TX. He was preceded in death by two sisters Geraldine Ernst and Marie Majors.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Cody and Mandy Camblin, Jenee and Shelley Squires, Natalie and Haley Johnston.

Funeral Services will be held at Countryside United Methodist Church at 10:00 AM Monday January 19, 2004. Burial will be in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors provided by the US Navy. Mr. Gaston will lie in state from 2:00 Pm Sunday until service time at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel and the family will receive friends and relatives from 4:00Pm to 6:00PM. Memorial Contributions may be made to Legion of Honor, Arab Shrine and Countryside United Methodist Church. On-line condolences may be made at www.penwellgabel.com.
