Lawrence L. Crook, 92, Topeka died Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at his home.
He was born July 29, 1912 in Allen County, KS, the son of Walter and Bertha Peck Crook.
Mr. Crook was co-founder, co-owner, and operator of Lawrence Freight Line and BC&R Storage, from which he retired in 1980. He attended Grace Bible Church.
Mr. Crook was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Claude and Floyd Crook, and his sister, Florence Felicy.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Sarah E. Benton on May 27, 1933 in Topeka. She survives.
Other survivors include sons and their wives, Larry and Dolly Crook, Manitou Springs, CO, Merle and Jimilee Crook, Lawrence and Ted and Helen Crook, Carbondale, daughters and their husbands, Jeanette Sostrom, Absarokee, MT, Marjorie and Jack Kramer, Topeka, Nancy and Dean Rosa, Stet, MO, Jean and Doug DeWitt, Wakarusa and Kim Taylor, Topeka, 27 grandchildren, 59 great grandchildren, brother Leroy Crook, Wichita, sisters Delia Yocum, Lodi, CA, Mabel Isom, Laramie, WY, Mary Franklin, Stigler, OK and Ivanell McFarland, Colorado Springs, CO.
A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 28, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel 1321 SW 10th Ave. Topeka, KS 66604. Interment will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Crook will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Sunday, March 27, 2005 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
