Laveta Irene Cobb, 79, of Woodward, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021.
She was born June 17, 1942, in Ashland, Kansas, the daughter of Monte and Thelma (Campbell) Barnes. In her early years, Laveta and her friends attended Pleasant Hill Country School. She then went on to graduate from Coldwater High School and later attended Wichita Business College, graduating with a degree in Accounting.
Other people's children brought Laveta great joy. She loved to babysit. She also enjoyed traveling. She traveled to different parts of the United States and to Europe.
Laveta was a Kansas City Chiefs fan; she and Myrl enjoyed going to Kansas State football and basketball games; attending both men and women's games. Some of her hobbies include reading and jig saw puzzles.
Laveta married Myrl D. Cobb on November 25, 1994 in Bolder City, Nevada, he survives. Other survivors include their son, Andy Cobb, her brother, Lynn Barnes, and sisters; Wanda Stull and Billie Holler. Laveta is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Monte and Thelma Barnes, and her sister, Nancy Jackson.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
