Laurence F. Hefty, 84, Topeka, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 2006 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
He was born July 24, 1921 in Valley Falls, the son of Edward M. and Laura Reichart Hefty. He graduated from Valley Falls High School, and lived in Arrington for 18 years, before coming to Topeka in 1965.
Mr. Hefty farmed and later owned his own electrical business in Arrington. After moving to Topeka, he worked at Brewster Place for several years and retired from St. Francis Hospital after ten years of service. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
He married Rosella Freeland on April 3, 1944 in Bern, Kansas. She survives at the home.
Other survivors include three daughters, Mary Groyon, Topeka; Ann Krone, Wichita; Rita Penner, Yakima, WA; four grandchildren and one great-grandson; and a sister, Pauline Nelson, Newton.
Mr. Hefty will lie in state after noon Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Sunday at Grace United Methodist Church, 2627 SW Western. Graveside services will be 10:00 am Monday at West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
