Lauren Jill Forstein (nee Greenstein), 44, of Topeka, was taken from this earth in late May, 2010. She was born December 6, 1965 in Hartford, CT and raised in Connecticut. After graduating from Syracuse University, Lauren returned to Connecticut. She met Micah there, but they were soon off to California for his first post-graduate job. Lauren then fulfilled her Masters in Family and Child Counseling degree and began working with troubled teens. She ran overnight groups of adolescent boys. Naturally demure, she "grew" to be able to supervise troubled 6 foot adolescents from her 5' 1" frame.
Lauren had an inspired life, propelled by art, poetry, political activity, and counseling. She worked for clinics in Southern and then Northern California, up until it was time to raise a child of her own.
Lauren was a devoted mother to Kaila Rose. She and Micah Forstein raised Kaila in Northern California, Northern Indiana, and Topeka. She leaves an energetic, vivacious child, now in the good care of Micah and new bride Erin Floyd, brother; Mark Greenstein, and father; Saul Greenstein.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 3, 2010 at Temple Beth Sholom. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to The Lauren Forstein Foundation, her brother's fund for better publicity of women's health issues. It's "LFF c/o Mark Greenstein" 1606 S.W. Boswell St., Topeka KS 66604. Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
