Laura Denise Piper, 43, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, October 15, 2002 at a Topeka hospital.
She was born December 11, 1958 at Hiawatha, Kansas the daughter of Victor L. and Helen Mae (Harmon) Key. Mrs. Piper was a 1977 graduate of Sabetha High School. She attended Highland Community College and Washburn University. Laura graduated from Stormont Vail School of Nursing in 1981.
She was employed as a Registered Nurse at Stormont-Vail Hospital for 20 years. Laura had worked as a critical care nurse. She retired due to health reasons in 2000.
She married David Piper June 11, 1983 in Topeka. He survives at the home. Other survivors incldue:

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2002 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 W. 10th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Topeka. Mrs. Piper will lie in state after 12:00 noon Thursday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday.
