Larry Duane Mischke, 70, Topeka, passed away Friday, March 4, 2022.
He was born May 8, 1951, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Wilbur and Ethel (Jacobson) Mischke. In 1969, he graduated from Topeka High School. In 1973, he earned his bachelor's degree in business from Washburn University.
Larry was employed with Santa Fe and later BNSF, retiring after over 30 years of service.
He was a member of the Santa Fe Band since 1965, serving as president since 1988, Arab Shrine, where he also played in the Shrine Band, Masonic Lodge #51, and the Topeka Jayhawk Club.
On August 27, 1983, he married Charlene Griggs in Topeka. They later divorced.
Survivors include his daughters, Elizabeth (Ray) Toyne, Topeka; and Andrea (Matt) Graham, Wichita, KS; sister, Nancy (George) Sloop, Topeka; Grandchildren, Austin; Eoin; Marshall; and Rian; nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Larry enjoyed playing his trumpet, boating, traveling, hunting, motorcycle rides, cheering on the Jayhawks, attending daily coffee club, watching his grandkids grow, and visiting with his family and friends.
A memorial service to honor Larry will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, April 8, 2022 at First Congregational Church, 1701 SW Collins Ave., Topeka, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Andrea Graham or Liz Toyne in care of Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604, for his grandchildren's education fund.
