Larry Lee Smith, Sr. 71, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Midland Hospice House.
Larry was born September 10, 1939 in Garden City, MO, the son of Oren and Eunice (Ryan) Smith. He graduated from Atchison High School and Kaw Area Technical School.
He was employed as a Clinical Engineer at St. Francis Health Center, retiring in 2000.
He played Lead guitar with the band, Music Makers for 23 years.
Larry married Wilma Garrison on October 12, 1958 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Debbie Kershner-Leonard, Pamela Smeltzer, both of Topeka, Sherry Levret, Tecumseh, Teresa Smith, Topeka, Tammy McCaskill, Lebanon, MO; son, Larry Lee Smith, Jr., Topeka; 21 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Judy Lasley, The Villages, FL. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Kay Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 18, 2011 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Larry will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
