Larry D. Kelley, 69, Topeka, passed away Monday, January 1, 2024.
He was born July 22, 1954, in Akron, Ohio, the son of Earl and Monie (Riep) Kelley.
He graduated Springfield High School in Akron, OH and Bryan College in Dayton, TN. After that, he earned his Master's from Grace Theological Seminary in Warsaw, IN.
Larry was the pastor at Highland Baptist Church in Junction City for many years before he and Brenda moved to Topeka where he worked for Westar Energy until his retirement. After Brenda passed away, he began working as a school bus driver for Auburn Washburn School District.
On December 27, 1975, he married Brenda Carol Hay at Hydewood Park Baptist Church in Plainfield, New Jersey. She preceded him in death on January 24, 2018. He was also preceded in death by his parents and sister JoAnn LaFollette.
Survivors include his children, Lorrel (Jason) Smith, Joshua A. Kelley, and Timothy (Valerie) Kelley; four grandchildren, Michael A. Smith, Kieryn G. Smith, Isabelle M. Kelley, and TJ Kelley; and one sister, Jean (Kelley) Crook.
Cremation is planned and services will be held at a later date.
