Larry Dean Golden, 43, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 following a lengthy illness that affected his liver, kidneys and heart.
He was born June 5, 1965 in Topeka, the son of Carl D. and Leota Rae (Kensing) Golden. He attended elementary and junior high in Topeka before graduating from Washburn Rural High School in 1983. He attended Kansas State University for a year before moving to Abilene, TX to attend Hardin-Simmons University on a golf scholarship. After graduation, he married Kathy Redeker on July 8, 1988 and moved to Austin, TX. Larry worked in business, sales, and marketing for several organizations in Austin and Plano.
Larry had a great love of music. He played the guitar as well as writing and singing his own compositions. Larry was very generous towards others. He was often found helping friends renovate their homes, helping people move, and various other projects. He had a letter written about him and sent to his employer praising him for stopping and assisting an injured motorist after a bad wreck - no one else bothered to stop. Larry tried to always think of others.
