Laferry Greene

LaFerry G. Greene, 87, of Topeka, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at Midland Hospice House. She was born February 22, 1923 in Valley Falls, Kansas to George and Louise (Whitcraft) James. She married Donald J. Greene on July 9, 1941, he preceded her in death on June 24, 2008. She was a sales clerk for Crosby Brothers Department Store and later retired as a Clerk from the State of Kansas. Mrs. Greene was a member of First Southern Baptist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Cindy Walsh and her husband, Gerry, of Port Townsend, WA; a son, Richard Greene, Topeka; two siblings, Midge Lewis of Topeka and George L. James of Augusta, KS; four grandchildren, Debbie, Lisa, Nicole, and Matthew; eight great grandchildren, Zachary, Dylan, Nicholas, Arianna, Wesley, James, Michaela and Sara; and three great great grandsons, Anthony, Brelyn and Braden. She was preceded in death by her husband.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 20 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 19 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Cir, Topeka, KS 66606.
