Kyle Robert Stueven, 56, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, November 21, 2021.
He was born November 9, 1965, in Las Vegas, Nevada, the son of Robert L. Stueven and Diana (Riemer) Scoville. He graduated from JFK High School 1983. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Army. Kyle also attended Washburn University and received a Bachelor's Degree in Biology in 2008 and a Master's Degree in Social Work in 2021.
Kyle retired from the United States Army 2003 as Sergeant First Class Stueven. After retirement, he was employed by Topeka VA Psychiatric Recovery and Wellness Program (PRWP) as a Peer Support Specialist. He loved helping other veterans within the community with their recovery.
He was a member of NAMI of Topeka, Kansas and served as President for two years, lifelong member of NRA, the Arab Shriners, AARP, VFW and the National Association of Social Workers.
Kyle had many hobbies, but he especially enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to go hiking, camping with family, going rock climbing, and just enjoyed nature. Kyle also enjoyed history, geocaching, woodworking, glass blowing, reading, listening to Christian Music and gardening, especially chili peppers. He had a passion for eating spicy foods and loved trying different hot sauces. Dawn and Kyle recently bought a Jeep and Kyle named it Rakkasan after his Youtube channel, Rakkasan Playing with Fire, that he created as a benefit for suicide prevention for Veterans. On April 18, 2013, Kyle entered the world of recovery and worked diligently to help others with their recovery. He was awarded his service dog, Warrior from K9 4 Heroes.
Kyle married Dawn Markley on February 14, 1997 in Basehor, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include his children, Tessa (Kendall) Stueven, Nico Stueven, Marley Stueven, Brittany (Travis) Greenlee and Ryne Stueven; one grandson, Brayden Bryant; father, Robert Stueven; mother, Diana Scoville and his sister, Tracy Mullen. He was preceded in death by his step father, Dale Scoville and grandmother, Dorathy Riemer.
A visitation will be from 4:00pm- 6:00pm on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66604. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Monday, December 6, 2021 at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System Suicide Prevention Services, 2200 SW Gage Blvd., Topeka, Kansas 66622.
