Kenneth Ross Teasley
Kenneth Ross Teasley, 85, of Topeka, died Monday, July 10, 2006 at a Topeka care center.
Mr. Teasley was born January 28, 1921 in Kansas City, MO, to Millie Mae Camp and Ross Alden Teasley and grew up in Natoma, KS. He served 30 years in the Army Air Corps and U.S. Air Force.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Warren D. Teasley of Kansas City and an infant sister, Eileen. Survivors include his wife, Claire Elaine "Natalie" Teasley of Topeka; a son, Martin Mack Teasley of Abilene KS and his wife Ingeborg; a daughter Kenlie Kay Bell of Thomasville, GA and her husband Ronald; a daughter Brooke Eileen Teasley of Topeka and her companion David Coe; a daughter Tamra Lynne Teasley of Lincoln NE and husband Stefan Newbold; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
Mr. Teasley graduated from Natoma High School in 1938 and worked as a newspaper printer and radio repairman before entering the U.S. Army in September 1940. During World War II he was a radar technician for the Army Air Corps, stationed in California and Okinawa. During his 30-year career he later served as a munitions officer at bases throughout the United States, Guam, Thailand, and Germany, rising to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer (CWO-4). His military decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, World War II Victory Medal and Vietnam Service Medal.
After retirement from the Air Force, Mr. Teasley worked many years in the administrative office of Washburn University. His hobbies included amateur ham radio, photography, reading, and television repair. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association and past-president of the Topeka Active Prime Timers senior citizens organization.
Cremation will take place with inurnment services at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the Fort Riley Post Cemetery with full-military honors. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, Topeka.
