Kenneth C. Maggard, 64, of Topeka, passed away, Tuesday, May 3, 2005 at the Toepka V.A. Hospital.
He was born March 13, 1941 in Winslow, Arkansas the son of Emmanuel and Clara Wise Maggard.
Kenneth was a veteran serving in the U.S. Navy where he was an aircraft mechanic. He worked as a LPN and CNA at many nursing homes and with home health care through out Kansas.
He was a current member of the Family of God Church in Topeka. He had previously been a member of the First Nazarene and the First Southern Baptist Churches in Coffeyville. He had served as a volunteer with, Let's Help, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, Door Step the Rescue Mission and the Christian Neighborhood Center.
He married Stella Fern Alexander August 16, 1960 in Miami, OK. She survives. Other survivors include, two sons, Kenneth Maggard, Holton, KS; Michael Maggard, Topeka; four daughters, Shelley Thornton, Thayer, KS; Esther Carrier, Topeka; Kimberly Maggard, Topeka; Tammi Maggard, Lewistown, PA; four brothers, J.R. Maggard, and Ronnie Maggard, Portland, OR; Buddy Maggard, Hippo, KY; Harold Maggard, Tulsa, OK; his mother, Clara Maggard, Coffeyville, KS; and 16 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Karen Sue Burrell and his grandson William Carrier.
Graveside services will be held 2:30pm Monday 5-9-05 at the Leavenworth National Cemetery. He will lie in state from 8:00 am until 5:00pm Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
