Kenneth J. Arnold

Kenneth J. "Kenny" Arnold, 76, of Ozawkie, passed away on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. He was born September 3, 1935 in Topeka, the son of Lawrence S. and Lamberta S. McDonald Arnold.

He graduated from Topeka High School in 1953. Kenny was employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for 12 years and later by Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company before retiring after many years of service. He was a member of the N.R.A., the United Rubber Workers Union, and the Kansas Street Rod Association.

Kenny married Shirley Ann Meyer Arnold on September 1, 1955 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on May 10, 2011 after 55 years of marriage. He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister.

Survivors include one daughter, Brenda (Brad) Garner Lyden of Topeka, two sons, Randy (Shelle) Arnold of Lawrence and Doug Arnold of Valley Falls, four grandchildren, Adam (Erica) Arnold of Eudora, Amy (Marc) Hedstrom of Topeka, Ryan Smith of Topeka and Stacy (Pat) Ledford of Topeka, five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Hayden, Colin, Katie and Hailey, and one brother, Reuben Niedens of Wichita.


Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow in Valley Falls Cemetery, Valley Falls, KS. Kenny will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
