Kenneth L. Harding was born in Kansas City, KS on December 20, 1923 to Riley and Mildred (nee Crossley) Harding. He graduated from Argentine High School in 1941 and attended Kansas University. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1943 and served as a 1st Class Petty Officer in the Pacific Theatre where he was a sub-hunting Gunner on a PBY. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1946 following the end of WW II. On November 27, 1946 he married Imogene Durham in Kansas City, Kansas.
He spent most of his working years in sales, and in 1974 he began working alongside his wife in management for Weight Watchers. They worked together in both Topeka, KS and Springfield, MO until Ken's retirement in the mid-1980's.
Ken and Imogene were members of Grace Cathedral in Topeka and St. James Episcopal Church in Springfield. They were active members of Marriage Encounter during the years they lived in Topeka, and Ken enjoyed singing in the church choir and serving as a lector.
Ken passed away at Rolling Hills Health Center on the morning of September 8, 2005. He is survived by daughters Susan Lunsford and Diane Traicoff, a son Ken Harding, eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. His beloved wife Imogene preceded him in death.
Mr. Harding will lie in state after 12:00 noon Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Sunday, September 11th with the funeral to take place at Grace Episcopal Cathedral at 1:00 PM on Monday, September 12th.
