Kenneth Gerald McKeever, 94, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2013. He was born August 8, 1919, in Circleville, Kansas, the son of George and Emma (Dick) McKeever.
Kenneth graduated from Circleville High School in 1937 and received his Master's Degree from Pittsburg State Teachers College in 1950. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving during World War II.
Ken started his career with Boeing Aircraft Company for 3 ½ years. He then taught math and industrial arts as well as served as principal for 16 years with various Kansas schools, including Netawaka, Miller and Topeka. After teaching, Kenneth joined Colmery-O'Neil VA Hospital where he was an industrial therapist for 20 years before retiring.
Ken was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church and the American Legion.
Kenneth married Dorothy Mangrum on October 24, 1942 in Pittsburg, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 9, 2007. He was also preceded in death by a great-grandson.
Survivors include two children, Ronald (Mae) McKeever, Bradenton, FL and Susan (Lee) Wallace, Topeka; brother, Raymond (Lucille) McKeever, Lawrence; four grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 9 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church, 4746 SW 21st St, Topeka. Interment will follow with military honors at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
