Kenneth L. Brittain, 83, Topeka, passed away Friday, August 4, 2006 at his home.
Ken was born May 18, 1923 in Topeka, the eldest son of Alfred and Ruth (Hastings) Brittain. He graduated from Osage City High School and Washburn University.
Ken served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He worked for several years as a postal clerk for the U.S. Post Office and retired from the U.S. Civil Service Commission as an investigator. He was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church. Until recent years, he was a member of the Swinging Squares square dance club.
He married Jacqueline Wagg in Osage City on June 4, 1943. She survives. Other survivors include two children; Paula Loveless (Sam), Collinsville, IL and Michael Brittain (Inger), Roskilde, Copenhagen; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and one great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alfred Paul "Buzz" Brittain.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 8, 2006 at Crestview United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Brittain will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Monday and visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m.
