Kenneth D. Bridwell, 75, of Topeka, passed away, Sunday, March 12, 2006 at his home.
He was born February 4, 1931 in Ottawa, KS the son of James Roy and Minnie Elizabeth Leatherberry Bridwell. He was a graduate of Topeka High School and had attended Washburn University.
Kenneth married Vera K. Humphrey on April 5, 1958 in Ottawa, KS.
Mr. Bridwell served in the US Army in Korea from 1952-1954. Following his military service he sold real estate with his father. He later owned and operated Topeka Contractors & Engineers for 30 years, retiring in 1993.
He was a life member of Philip Billard Post #1650, V.F.W., and the Disabled American Veterans. He was an original member of the Shawnee County Sheriff's Mounted Posse. He was a member of the American Quarter Horse and Paint Horse Associations and raised Paint horses many years.
Survivors include his wife Vera, two nieces, Deborah Elwood and Barbara Tatera, a nephew, Rob Bridwell, and their families. He was preceded in death two brothers Keith L Bridwell in 1928 and Russell E. Bridwell, MD in 2005.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at the Mt. Hope Cemetery Chapel at 17th and Fairlawn. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mr. Bridwell will lie in state after 12:00 noon Tuesday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
