Kenneth Edwin Adams of Topeka, Kansas, passed away on January 23, 2024, after an extended illness. He was born September 21, 1936, in Wheaton, Kansas, to parents Kenneth Vincent and Dorothy Beth (Huggins) Adams, both of whom preceded him in death. Ken was also preceded in death by his brother, Charles Adams, and his sister, Janet Bartholemew. Ken graduated from Topeka High School in 1954 and married his high school sweetheart Beverly Jean Adkins on October 21, 1955. They celebrated 55 years of marriage before her passing in 2010. Ken served in the Army National Guard and was a long-time member of Potwin Presbyterian Church. He was a skilled millwright and carpenter before retiring from Carpenters Local 1445 in 1994. In his younger years, Ken enjoyed racing motorcycles cross country with friends. As a young family, Beverly, Ken and the Fabulous Five could often be found camping, boating and water skiing at area lakes. Traveling throughout the United States also brought him joy, especially he and Bev's solo and family trips to multiple national parks.
Ken is survived by his five children: Daniel (Cindy) Adams, Estes Park CO; Cheryl (John) Martin, Topeka, KS; Steven (Barbara) Adams, Topeka, KS; Michael (Libby) Adams, Topeka, KS; and Rhonda (Marcus) Hassen, Huntersville, NC. Other survivors include grandchildren, Dallas (Justin) Currence, Kacy (Rachel) Adams; Erica (Kelly) Marshall, Rebecca (Steven) Chermok; Lacey (Kevin) Baldwin, Melissa (Christian) Avalos, Christine (Justin) Brewster; Aliya and Emma Hassen; great-grandchildren, Hope, Brady and Hazel Currence, Gracelyn and Axel Adams; Madeline (Brenden) Bigham; Brenden, Dustin, Caleb, Ashlynn and Elizabeth Chermok; Parker Baldwin; Cole, Blake and Callen Avalos; Logan and Avery Merryman; great-great granddaughter, Isabella Bigham; numerous step-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Mary Adkins.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, February 1, 2024 at Mount Hope Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS 66604. His family will greet friends and relatives one hour before the service. A private family burial is planned.
