Keith Bossler

Keith V. Bossler, 77, Topeka, died Tuesday June 21, 2005 at his home.

He was born December 29, 1927 in Topeka, the son of John and Alice Bossler. He graduated from Topeka High School. After serving in the U. S. Navy during World War II, he received a bachelor degree in economics from Washburn University. While at Washburn, he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity, serving as president.

For 34 years, Mr. Bossler was owner of the personnel firm which eventually became Bossler/Brown and Associates of Topeka. He established the first temporary help service in Kansas and was the first person in the state to receive the Certified Personnel Consultant designation. He expanded his business to include offices in Lawrence and Kansas City. He was a past president o f the National Personnel Associates and past chairman of the Kansas State Employment and Training Council.

He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church for over 45 years, where he served as an elder and on numerous committees. He was a past chairman of the board of trustees for the Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America.

Mr. Bossler was past president of the Washburn Alumni Association and chairman of the board of directors of the Washburn Endowment Association. For his volunteer service at Washburn he received the Distinguished Service Award from the Alumni Association as well as the Outstanding Volunteer Fund-Raiser Award from the Topeka Chapter of the National Society of Fund Raising Executives.

He was on the board of trustees of the Topeka YMCA, a charter member and past president of the Topeka 20-30 Club and a member of the Topeka Downtown Rotary Club.

He married Bette Schlotthauer of Hutchinson on September 2, 1951. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Ann Carnahan and her husband, David, of Wamego; two grandchildren, Amy and Paul Carnahan, Wamego; a brother, Kenneth Bossler, Topeka, and a nephew, Stanley Bossler, Dallas, TX.

A memorial service will be at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, at Trinity Presbyterian Church. Private family inurnment will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
