Kay Marie Kemp, 51, of Topeka, died on Monday, June 8, 2015 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, OK.
She was born on November 10, 1963 in Sands, Michigan to Victor P. and Della L. Evenson. She has been a Topeka native since she was 5 years old and graduated from Topeka West High School in 1982.
Kay was a licensed home day provider for 29 years before her lung disease diagnoses in December of 2009. She was disabled for the last 5 years but still cared for her grandkids as often as she could.
She was a lifetime Christian and was a member of Faith Lutheran Church at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Shawnee Boat & Ski Club and served as an officer of the board of directors for several years.
She enjoyed camping, being at the lake and spending time with family and friends, especially her grandkids. Her hobbies were puzzles and making quilts.
Kay married Mark H. Kemp on May 8th 1982. Mark survives her as well as 3 of their children (Timothy, Diane and David) as well as her daughter in law Jessica (Timothy's wife). Other survivors are: 3 brothers; Robert Evenson, Roger Evenson and Michael Evenson. There are 5 grandkids; Ayden, Jackson, Connor, Addison and Delani. There are many nieces and nephews as well.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her one child Joseph.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 15, 2015, at Fellowship Bible Church, 6800 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66615. The family will greet friends an hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the service at West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Kay will lie in state from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at Penwell-Gabel Midtown Chapel, 1321 SW 10th, Topeka.
