Katheryn Lathom Piper was born on October 16, 1915, the youngest of twelve children on a farm in Indiana. She passed away Monday, January 30, 2012 at age 96.
Katheryn attended Geneva College in Pennsylvania where she met her husband, Wilmer, They were married June 1, 1939 and celebrated 72 years this past June. Wilmer preceded her in death by six months.
Katheryn and Wilmer had four children, Judie Relf (Jim), Don Piper (Boni), Rosalie Bean (Larry), and David Piper (Jolene). They are also survived by eight grandchildren, Julie, Jana, Jaime, Aaron, Karli, Sarah, Earl and Megan, 15 great grandchildren, two step grandchildren, Matthew and Kelly, and three step great grandchildren.
Both Katheryn and Wilmer were life long members of the Topeka Reformed Presbyterian Church. Their children would like to thank the many volunteers from the church who helped transport them to church
each week and visited them in the Presbyterian Manor.
Visitation will be from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday, February 13th at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. The funeral ceremony will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14 at the funeral home with burial to follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery.
