Katherine M. High

Katherine M. High, 92, Topeka, passed away May 25, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital. She was born May 3, 1920, in New Boston, MO, the daughter of Tracy and Elva Welch Christian. On April 13, 1937, in Linneur, MO, Katherine married Joseph O. High. He preceded her in death in 1981. She was also preceded in death by a son, Edward in 2010, and brother, Billy Christian. She was office manager for 30 years at A.L. Duckwall. Katherine was a member of Quivira Heights Church of Christ in Topeka.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Nancy High; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Oudima Simpson of Detroit, MI. Funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society or the charity of donor's choice.
