Kate Johnson, 93, entered into her final rest at Midland Hospice Care of Topeka, KS on June 30, 2008 surrounded by the tender care of her family and loved ones.
Kate was born in Greenville, TX to Eureka and Mossie Williams. Kate was preceded in death by her only daughter Gladys Rae Manning Freeman and two grandsons, Eddie Lee Freeman, Jr., and Pierre Collins, Jr. and her daughter- in- law, Jean Manning. She is survived by her sons, Billy Henry (Virginia) Manning, Fayetteville, NC; Donald B. "Buster" Johnson, Topeka, KS; 12 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, raising her granddaughter, Ursula Johnson Mulay and her great granddaughter Jamie Manning as her very own. She also holds very close to her heart her granddaughter Rita Manning Bell. Kate leaves 19 great-great grandchildren and 5 great-great-great grandchildren to continue her legacy in life. She leaves three nieces, Betty (Ben) Byrd, KC, MO; Veda and Carolyn Bratton, both of Topeka. She also leaves a host of other great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends to mourn her passing. Two friends counted among family especially close to her heart are Regina Hernandez and Marlene Miller.
The family will greet friends from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00noon Monday, July 7, 2008 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel followed by graveside services at 1:00 p.m. at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Midland Hospice Care.
