Karyne S.Carter, 59, of Topeka,went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, November 18, 2004 at St. Francis Health Center.
She was born August 4, 1945 in Topeka, the daughter of Lewis and Grace Atkinson Wright.
She graduated from Topeka High School in 1963 and attended Washburn University. She worked at Hallmark Cards in Topeka for 10 years. She then went to work for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas for 10 years. She had worked at St. Francis Health Center in the Admissions dept.for 17 years, ending her career as an Admissions supervisor. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church where she served as Youth Director for several years. She was also an avid reader.
She married Alfred S. Carter on August 22, 1963 in Topeka. They were divorced.
Survivors include: two sons, Kevin Carter of Mesquite,TX, Bryan Crawford of Topeka, a sister, Shirley Wright of Topeka, two brothers, Wilbur C. Wright, of Topeka, Kenneth Wright of Oceanside,CA,an Aunt, Marian Atkinson of Topeka; foster daughters Dawn Parker of Ft. Pierce, FL, Gina Bell of Olathe, KS, foster sons, Edward Patterson of Topeka and Daymond Patterson of Garland, TX and 13 grandchildren.
Mrs. Carter will lie in state after 12:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 23, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. that evening.A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2004 at Mt. Carmel Missionary Baptist Church, 610 SE. Lime, Topeka, KS. 66607 with burial to follow in Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery.
