Karla Dea (Hostetter) Hardman, 65, Topeka, passed away Friday, April 16, 2021.
She was born August 28, 1955, in Emporia, Kansas, the daughter of Harry Robert (Bob) Hostetter and Erma Lee (Griffitts) Hostetter.
She graduated with honors from Topeka West High School in 1973 and received a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Washburn University in 1988.
Karla was honorably discharged with the rank of Sergeant from the US Army. She served from 1974-1978 and was posted with Co. A 709th MP and HHT 6th Air Calvary Combat Brigade.
Before retiring, Karla was employed with Delta Designs Ltd, assisting in making museum display cabinets.
Survivors include her daughters, Jamie (Hardman) Chestnut and Heather Hardman in Topeka; brother, Stan Stevens, Emporia, KS; sisters, Kimberly Johnson, Niobrara, NE, Melissa Hope, Jefferson City, MO and Bobbi Storm, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Kylie Balaun, Lake City, MN, and Jordan Hardman, Kaitlin Chestnut, Elyssia Young, Casey Chestnut, Haylee Chestnut, and Rylee Chestnut, all of Topeka.
She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Jeff Hardman and her sister, Teresa Cain.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, May 12th, 2021 at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Interment of the cremated remains with military honors will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery. Social distancing and face masks required. Refreshments will be served in the Chapel after the burial service.
