June Marlene White, a beloved figure in her family and community, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at the Midland Hospice House. She was born on June 10, 1938, in Leavenworth, Kansas, to Carl and Ruth Theel. June graduated from Leavenworth High School, a place where she laid the foundation for a life filled with love, family, and compassion.
As a devoted homemaker, June dedicated her life to her family, nurturing and supporting them in every endeavor. Her personality was marked by friendliness, and she cherished her time outdoors with her loved ones. In addition to her family pursuits, June enjoyed watching television and immersing herself in the pages of a good book, hobbies that reflected her warm and engaging spirit.
Her son Mike will remember her for introducing him to science fiction, and David remembers her for being one of the only people who would help him practice playing catch.
She is survived by her loving sons, Michael Gillette and David Gillette; her brothers, Max Theel and Tom Theel; as well as her cherished grandchildren—Brandon, Kalli, Christopher, Melinda, and Savannah Gillette. June was also a proud great-grandmother to Benton and Loren Gillette, whose lives she touched deeply.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth and Carl Theel, and her brothers, Bill and Tim Theel. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and love will continue to resonate with all who knew her.
A funeral service to honor June's life will be held on December 30, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home in Topeka, Kansas. Friends and family are invited to gather to celebrate the remarkable life of a woman who enriched the lives of so many.
