Julia Bernice Anderson

Julia Bernice (Dolly) Knight Erwin Anderson, age 92, of Topeka, died Thursday, December 15, 2005 at the McCrite Nursing Home where she had been a long-time resident.

She was born May 25, 1913 in Logansport, IN the daughter of Harry and Elsie Jackson Knight. Her family moved to Topeka when she was a young child.

Dolly married Archie Erwin in 1931, and had seven children. Archie died in 1944 leaving her a 31 year old widow, before her youngest child was born.

She worked in numerous jobs to support her seven and was eventually employed by Forbes Military Supply Depot from where she eventually retired.

Dolly married Carl Anderson in 1966.

Dolly was preceded in death by her five siblings and her eldest daughter, Betty Helmick. Immediate survivors include: her husband Carl and six children, Harold Erwin of West Virginia; Francis Erwin of Topeka; Larry Erwin of Texas; Patricia Beason of Topeka; Condie Erwin of Topeka; Jack Erwin of Alabama; and grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 9:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2005 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Dolly will lie in state after 12:00 noon Sunday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. Sunday.
