E. Juanita Smith Voight, 90, died at Lexington Park Nursing Facility Sunday, June 19, 2005.
She was born the daughter of Angie Mallonee and John Brown, April 12, 1915 in Jefferson City, MO.
When she was young her family roamed around Kansas and Missouri from Jefferson City, MO to Dodge City/Garden City, K5. Her Mallonee grandparents lived in Dodge City.
She moved to Leavenworth with her family in the early 1930's where she met her future husband Peter J. Voight, whose parents were next door neighbors.
She married Peter J. Voight, September 25,1936. They spent the majority of their married life on the Voight family farm at Madoc, MT where he died March 18,1957. She was also preceded in death by a daughter Hyla J. Voight of Overland Park, KS and a son Phillip O. Voight of Ravalli, MT, three sisters, Thelma Leigh and Wanda McDonald, Leavenworth, KS and Harmony Harding of Kansas City, KS.
She is survived by her children Peter J. Voight II (Delores), Dade City, FL; Angelita Voight, Easton, KS; Harry J. Voight (Tara), Petaluma, CA, and Melody Voight-Steinkuehler (Willard,Topeka, KS. She is also survived by two sisters, Phyolain Montgomery of Leavenworth, KS and Angeline Sanders, Albuquerque, NM, and her daughter-in-law Marilyn Athearn, Dixon, MT. Seventeen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Probably the happiest part of her life was when the family was all together and we were growing up on the farm.
Her epitaph will read: She made home happy.
