Juanita Flynt Podmore, 87, died Friday, February 11, 2005 at McCrite Health Center. She was born on December 26, 1917, in Anderson, Indiana to O.J. and Kate Flynt, where she resided until moving to Topeka in 1947. A graduate of Anderson High School and Anderson University, she worked briefly at Warner Press and later was secretary to the pastor of Andersons First United Methodist Church. She was married to Ed Podmore in 1943. Survivors include her husband, a daughter, Anne Fund, Topeka and two granddaughters; Victoria Slusser, St. Charles, Missouri and Amy Fund, Houston, Texas. Briefly employed by Crosby Brothers department store, she later joined the staff of the Topeka Public Library where she served twenty years as Assistant Childrens Librarian. Following retirement, she was employed for an additional eight years as Office Manager for the Friends of the Topeka Public Library before final retirement in 1989. Always active in the First United Methodist Church, she taught Sunday School for several years, was a member of both the Methodist Women and the church for over fifty years. She was a volunteer and charter member of the Friends of the Library and assisted at the annual book sale and other functions for many years. She also was an early volunteer for Hospice of Topeka, now Midland Hospice. Cremation took place. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, 2005 in Klasse Chapel of the First United Methodist Church. Private inurnment will take place in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
