Joye Rae Kratochvil, 75, of Topeka, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 27, 2009.She was born March 15, 1934 in Oklahoma the daughter of Willie Ray and Annie Mabel (Cutler) Smith. Joye received nursing training in Tulsa, OK and later earned her Master's in Education from Northeastern State College, Tahlequah, OK. She taught fourth grade in Derby and Topeka until her children were born. She retired from Kansas Ag Statistics. She was a member of Westside Baptist Church, Topeka. She married Milo Vern Kratochvil August 5, 1962. They later divorced. Survivors include her children, Linda (Richard) Norris, Topeka; Terry (Susan) Kratochvil, Louisburg, KS; Larry (Christina) Kratochvil, Topeka; her sister, Margaret (Frank) Rott, El Reno, OK; her grandchildren, Elizabeth and Samuel Kratochvil, Garrett Moise, Kassadee Clark and LonnJe Watson and numerous nieces and nephews. Joye will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Sunday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 2, 2009 at Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Rochester Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Meals on Wheels, 1500 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka, KS 66604.
