Joyce Emery Crawford, 64, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, October 15, 2006 at her home.
She was born November 19, 1941 in Topeka; the daughter of Benjamin F. and Bessie A. Emery. She attended Big Springs Elementary and graduated from Highland Park High School.
Joyce was united in marriage to Leonard Crawford on November 21, 1987 in Houston, TX. They made their home in Texas and moved to Topeka two years ago.
She retired from Exxon Oil as an Executive Secretary after many years of service. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Center, TX and enjoyed spending time with her two dogs as well as taking care of birds and tending to her flowers.
She is survived by her brother, Ben F. Emery, Lecompton, two sisters, Jean Greene and Dorothy Wilson, both of Topeka, and sixteen nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and two sisters, Ruth Rowe and Catherine Traxler.
A funeral service for Joyce will be at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 20th at First Church of the Nazarene with interment to follow at Eastview Cemetery, Big Springs, KS. She will lie in state after 12 noon on Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. that evening.
