Joyce Anderson

Joyce Ester Anderson, 97, of Topeka, passed away, Saturday, June 26, 2004 at Aldersgate Village.

She was born November 21, 1906 at Ozawkie, Kansas the daughter of Rolla Lewis and Rose May Irwin Wilson.

Mrs. Anderson has resided in Topeka since 1930. She was a graduate of Strickler's Business College. She had taught at a rural Ozawkie school for several years. She then worked as a bookkeeper for Overton Electric Company.

Joyce was a member of East Topeka United Methodist Church. She had served as the church secretary over twenty years. She served as president of the United Methodist Women's Circle for several years.

She was married to Wayne E. Anderson. He preceded her in death June 28, 1982. She was also preceded in death by her sons Raymond G. Anderson in 1959, and Lewis A. Anderson in 2004.
Survivors include:
daughter and son in law, Shirley J. and James L. Klein Silver Lake, KS
daughter and son in law, Sharon R. and William G. Henderson Denver, CO
eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday June 30, 2004 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery. Mrs. Anderson will lie in state after 12:00 noon Tuesday at the funeral home where the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday.
