Josephine Griffith, 97, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at a local hospital.
Josephine was born February 20, 1913 in Lincoln County, the daughter of Orin and Rosetta (Richards) Lessenden.
She was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church.
Josephine married Chancy Griffith on November 19, 1941 in Salina. He died in 1981. Survivors include daughters, Joan Boles, Wichita, Helen Beckett, Topeka, Janice Reynolds, Edmond, OK, Rosetta Baer, Topeka; 12grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, two brothers, and grandson, Christopher Allen.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery. Josephine will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. Friday and visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
