Joseph L. Cox Esq., 89, of Topeka, KS, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022. Joe was born on December 7, 1932 in Trenton, MO to Forrest and Judson (Ritzenthaler) Cox. He received his doctorate of law from University of Missouri, Kansas City in 1964 and practiced law for many years before becoming a municipal court judge. On May 20, 1956 he married Lois (Hubble) Cox. They proudly raised two daughters Margaret Jarvis and Marti Anderson.
Joe was active with Sons of The American Revolution, Sertoma, and a lifelong Eagle Scout. He was actively involved with his church and taught Sunday school for many years. He was known for his love of history and all things presidents.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Lois & his parents Forrest and Judson, and brother Curtis. He is survived by his two children Margaret and Marti (LaRay), his two grandchildren Julie (Chris) and Katie, and his 2 great grandchildren Evan and William.
A visitation will take place on Friday, March 4th, from 5-7pm, at Penwell-Gabel Midtown Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka. A funeral service will take place at First Christian Church, 1880 Gage Blvd, Topeka at 11am. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society.
