Joseph C. Weakly, 84, Topeka, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010 at a local hospital.
Joe was born October 13, 1925 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Charles and Maude (Chinn) Weakly. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in Engineering. He was self employed as a Consulting Engineer, having done structural designs for many schools in the State of Kansas.
He had been a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Joe married Jeanne Thompson in 1944. They later divorced. He married Kathlyn L. Relihan in 1970. She died Nov. 12, 1997. Survivors include sons, Robert "Bob" (Annie) Weakly, Greenbrae, CA, William "Bill" (Lorie) Weakly, Topeka; and grandsons, Taylor and Dylan Weakly.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private family burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Joe will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
